Skip a Meal Print E-mail

sam_120Ever wonder what to do with those un-used meal points from your meal plan card or been unable to make it to the caf for all your meals in a week? Your un-used points or meals could help someone in need! It only takes $2.50 to supply a meal for someone who’s hungry.

bu_of_guelph_pics_004_200.jpgSkip a Meal facilitates the student donation of money from your meal plans to purchase food at wholesale prices for those who can't afford it in their community. Chapter Directors consult with local food banks and agencies to identify which products are most in need. This approach ensures that items that are not always attainable through a regular food drive, like baby food, foods low in sugar or food for unique cultural communities, get to the people who really need it.

sam_guelph.jpgChapter Directors and volunteers then organized Delivery Day to personally deliver the food to local social organizations, where they learn more about the ways in which communities respond to those in need and find out about opportunities for continued involvement.

All those extra meal plan points have added up:

  • Skip a Meal has generated $656,578.13 in donations from 50,832 students on 27 campuses.
  • All food provided to the community through Skip a Meal is food that would have otherwise gone undonated
  • 100% of student donations generated on campus stays within their community

Don't let your unused meal points go to waste! Donate a meal, or start a chapter at your school.
