Welcoming Brittany to the Meal Exchange National Office Team

Dear Meal Exchangers,

For those of you who recall last months newsletter, it is with mixed emotions that we said bye to Nicole Norris as the National Good Food Campus Lead. We are sad to say bye all the amazing work and passion Nicole brought to the team, but excited as she starts her journey as a first-time mother.

As most of you know, the Meal Exchange team has been growing and shifting for the past few months. With every root plucked, we plant a new seed, ready to bring something new to the table and build on the momentum of the organization. We are excited to introduce the latest addition to the Meal Exchange team is Brittany Maguire, who is stepping into the role of National Good Food Campus Lead. Brittany is a talented, passionate and energetic individual who is ready to make a lasting impact on campus food systems, or in her own words:

Hello Meal Exchangers,

I’m really excited to join the great team at Meal Exchange and to collaborate with students and partners across the country on creating important change. I have an environmental background, with a BSc in Environmental Science and International Development Studies from Dalhousie University and a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University. I’ve spent the last two years working for the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network (ACORN), where I learned an immense amount from local producers. Prior to my Masters, I worked for the Office of Sustainability at Dalhousie University on sustainable procurement, with a particular focus on sustainable seafood and fair trade products. I feel inspired by the food movement and grateful to be able to bring all that I have learned about food systems to this new position. I look forward to working together on changing campus food systems to be more just and sustainable!

Best regards,

Brittney Maguire, National Good Food Campus Lead

Thank you to Nicole for the lasting contributions you left at Meal Exchange, we know you will always play a role in challenging food systems and addressing barriers to food security. Welcome Brittany, we are excited to tap into your wealth of knowledge and grow with you.

In Solidarity,

Susanne Nyaga, Chapters, Campaigns and Communications Coordinator
